Part 1 of The Boy Zone and News of The Blog Carnival!!

Today's Freebie - Part 1 of The Boy Zone Kit

The new computer is almost fully loaded. It is amazing the stuff we have on our PCs!! I cannot believe that my old one ever ran with all the crud I had on it. I suppose that I'm a "got to keep it/got to try it" girl. So everything was kept...in case I needed it. Mind you the new one is getting so much put on that I actually need it has taken days to load it, lol! All is now going well but...it has rebooted twice now on its own...scary!! Hopefully I will sort that problem out and quickly!!

Last nights chat on tags was great fun...how to use them, make them everything about tags!! This week we are having a tag swap to go with the great papers that we all made last week for the paper swap. I love the chats and its great seeing the things that the ladies make afterwards. last weeks papers were brilliant!!

OK, so tonight the freebie is the first part of the two parts that make up this kit. The elements are the freebie on Friday so don't miss them and you will have the kit!! I thought these would work well for the males in our lives. It's so hard to find man stuff, lots of stuff for us girls but not so much for the guys, so I hope you can use it!

Monday Challenge

The new computer has arrived!!! I did a really happy dance for about an hour...then after I had started loading all the programs I use and configuring them, the realisation set in that this was one mammoth job!! I have done loads so far and it's taken me all day plus nothing else has got done! Still lots to do and a couple of programs are giving me trouble but I hope that I will have everything in shape by tomorrow afternoon. Fingers crossed!! I still haven't got an Internet connection though...so my old PC is being dragged screaming into service, lol!! So bear with me if this post is a little disjointed. I have one PC that I can't get on the Internet and one that can't find its its drives half the time, lol!! What a mix!!

So here's this weeks Monday Challenge:
To qualify for the Posting Bonus you have to make a layout using only items from the freebie April Supa Digi Kit from Scrappin Digi Kreations. It still gives you lots to choose from as you have kits from Sue, Lorie, Herald, Kim and me all in different styles but with the same colour theme. You can mix and match if you want. The only part of the kit you can't use is Sammy's beautiful Quick Pages but snag them whilst your there, they are gorgeous!!
The rules are:
You can only use items from the April Supa Digi Kit in your layout.
It can be about any subject and you have to send a link to your layout or a copy to me at june.schutrups@btinternet.com by Monday 5 May.
It's simple so get over Scrappin Digi kreations and start downloading!!
Here's a look at the April Supa Digi Kit

If you love Quick Pages, you'll love these beauties by SammyD. Drop by and enjoy them free as part of the April Supa Digi Kit.

Last weeks challenge had some more brilliant entries from you ladies which I will upload tomorrow in an extra post. I don't dare push this PC to hard it might self destruct before I'm finished with it, lol!!! So tomorrow the new one should make it's maiden voyage !This wonderful layout is from Jessica with a kit she made using the colour scheme. It is really gorgeous and I love that Kit!

Credits: Cens Colours by Scrapaholics

Linda's layout is so soft and gentle..I love it!! Again she made all the items except the overlay!! They are a clever lot these ladies!!

OK, I'm off. It has taken me 3 hours....computer hopping to finally manage to persuade my old PC to upload all this...so that's more than enough for one day, lol!!

Don't forget tomorrow is Chat Day at SDK and this week we are talking tags!! So check out the thread in the site news for details. See you Wednesday!!

I'm like the white rabit in Alice in Wonderland again..."I'm late, I'm late!!". I have had computer problems recently and so I ordered a new one, shouldn't really, but I did, thank goodness too! But..mistake!! Someone must have told my PC and it can't take rejection..so all today it has played me up. Not only has my main drive been going wonky but one of my external drives has been refusing to play as well!! The waves of panic were washing over me believe me, I almost was looking for a brown paper bag to breath into, lol! So, the result was I had to coax it along. My new one will come on Monday after a lot of pleading!! So lets hope everything holds together until after then...fingers crossed!!

Anyway I'm not going to push my luck so I will post and run while all is still working.

Tonights freebie is a paper pack with Spring in mind. It's called Beautiful Blooms because my garden is coming alive and the blooms are starting so it seemed just right...don't you just love the Spring!!

Hope you like the papers! You can download them here

It's an other huge one!!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I enjoyed mine, it was busy but good! Saturday was spent with the wonderful Lilly. She is such a little bundle of joy that I look forward to my Saturdays and nothing...but nothing stops the visits. They are really precious to me, time that I can watch her grow and witness the changes as she turns from a helpless little scrap into an animated tiny person. It's pure joy!! OK..I know, enough of that!! But it's so true! I also managed to get some new stuff up into the shop...read on for details and a great bargain!!
But first this weeks challenge! It's a colour one and I hope you agree the colours I picked are ideal for Spring. Have a look at the palette.

The challenge is to use 3 or more of the colours in a layout. I'm flexible on this meaning start with these colours and if you end up with a shade lighter or darker..fine but you must use the palette as the basis. You can make your own kit or use any kit of your choice, it doesn't have to be mine.If you send a link to your layout or a copy of it to me at june.schutrups@btinternet.com by next Monday 28 April you'll receive a download link for the posting bonus.

Please include full credits for any items used so that I can list them (check the designers TOU to see if recolouring is OK, it normally is).

If you could let me know in your email if it's OK for me to post your layout to my blog I would be grateful. I would hate to upset anyone. So come on give it a go and play along! Have a look at the Posting Bonus..these should go with your new colourscheme too!

Get in on the Great paper Swap!! Check out my chat tomorrow at SDK it's going to be fun!! Last week we talked about background papers and this week there is a freebie download with items to make some papers. Download it before the chat and then come along and get some tips and a links to download some tuts on how to use them to make some great papers.
The idea is that you all make 2-3 papers by next week and then send me a download link. I'll package them up and...we have a great Paper Share!! All welcome no matter what level of scrapper you are. If your an experienced scrapper come along and share your knowledge or if your a newbie drop by and learn loads of great stuff!
Chat Times are Tusday 22 April 3.30pm EST (8.30pm GMT)12.30pm PST
So check out the thread in the forum at SDK for full details and get the download link to get in on the Great Paper Share!!

Now to the new stuff in my shop. I have a new kit, Monet's Garden inspired by impressionist paintings and a French garden. It's soft and gentle and lends itself to lots of different layouts. Full of flowers and lace. Like all new items it's 40% off for the first week in the shop so if you like it get it now!!

Doodle Flower Swirl Freebie and a Photoshop Tip!

Hi all!! An other week over and almost at the weekend..hurrah!! This week has been so full of things to sort out and I am glad to report my husband is doing well. I am so relieved!!! He really gave me a fright last week, I have only just about got over the shock....I think he got over it faster than me. I always find that if its family or someone close to you that has something bad happen then you get so scared for them. They are so caught up in whats happening and you are just looking on feeling helpless. I think I'm just used to being in control...no not quite a control freak, but getting there!! So, if I can't control a situation then I really feel lost. But for the moment all is well.

Tonight I have some flower swirl doodles for the freebie and you can use them for personal or commercial use.
You can download the Flower Swirl Freebie set here
I have 3 doodle sets going in my shop at Scrappin Digi Kreations over the weekend so watch out for them. Here's is a little peek at one of the sets to give you an idea what there like.

I thought I'd share one of my favourite tips for Photoshop, I use CS2. It took me ages to work this one out..I can be slow at times, lol!
If you want to paint an a solid object that has a transparent background (png file) this is the tip for you. You want to use your brush, but you don't want to get it on to the background. Deleting the messy bits is a pain so how do you do it without getting messy?
The secret is to click the preserve transparency thumb in the layer palette, this means you can paint to your hearts content and the background will stay transparent!!

So here's how to do it.
1. Make sure your layer you are working on is the active layer.
2. Go to the layers palette and click on the preserve transparency thumbnail (look at the top for "Lock" and its the first thumbnail on the right of this) This locks the transparency of the layer. See below.

So now just use that brush and enjoy it!! Here is an example of how it works. No messy over painting to clear up!

Hope this helps!!

The Quote Challenge has brought some wonderful layouts to my mail box this week. I love the different styles and clever ideas that people use, it is always a pleasure to see them.Bright, clear and fun, that's the layout from Elisa. It uses white space brilliantly and draws the eye to that great photo! It is understated but extremely effective...fantastic layout Elisa!! Great job!!

Kim has used some wonderful colours and brackets in her challenge for this week. Ideal photos for this word art Kim, well done!! The photos have the girls faces whited out. A lot of people don't like their children's pictures on the Internet, I can understand this. Kim has made a Face White Out freebie and is offering it as a freebie on her blog. This means you can still share a layout without showing those little faces!! So if you could use this for your layouts, pop by and snag it. She also has some great Word Art for you as well.

Country Check Elements and a Sleepy me!

Tonight's post will be a short one as I am sooo sleepy!! Late last night after we had gone to bed my DH got chest pains and we ended up in an ambulance going to A&E. Needless to say they were marvellous but it took all night and then they had to keep him to do a blood test to check for heart attack. The good news is he is feeling better and they let him come home this afternoon. The bad news in that I only slept 4 hours this afternoon out of 32 hours! So my eyes are shutting I can only just stay awake and my bed calls!!To add to it my router appears to be going wrong and so I keep loosing my connection. I was going to buy a new one today but no time or energy. An other job for tomorrow!
The Country Check Elements set is the freebie tonight. It has the elements but also two more papers for you too.

You can download it here

Papers today, Elements Friday- Country Check

Its paper tonight and elements and a couple of plain papers on Friday for this Country Check Set. So be sure and get both!! I love check, plaids anything like that, almost as much as I love dots!! So I hope you have a place for them in your kit box!! Lots of things to tell you to tonight, mostly about me...boring...I know but some about the cute Lilly! I love that girl to bits!!
You can download the Country Check Paper Pack here

Last night was chat night at SDK and I had a great time. The theme was elements, which ones we liked and those we hate!! Personally when I shop I always look at elements and see how much "mileage" I can get from them. Yes, you can recolour them if you want to use an element with a different kit, (having said that always check the designers tou to see if its OK)or you can layer different ones for a great cluster effect. Some flowers are great because you can add a button in the centre and change the look. This works especially well with neutral coloured flowers... add a button to the centre that tones with your papers and it all fits! Single frames can be duplicated and used side by side or over each other with a slight angle change and again the look is changed. It pays to think...don't just use elements with the kit you bought them with, they can be interchanged with other kits and papers too. I was surprised to hear that some people keep everything in sets and never mix their kits at all. Me, I'm a thrifty scrapper...get the mileage out of them I say...not only that, but you get some great looks with a little mix and match!!

The first part of the collaboration kit for April is out at Scrappin Digi Kreations. It is gorgeous!! This part is Heralds and the theme is...you guessed it Spring!! Drop by and start collecting this kit now. There are lots more bits to come and it builds into a huge one and its FREE!!!!

Part 1 Scrappin Digi Kreations April Collab Kit start collecting it now

I thought you might like a peek at how our little Lilly is doing. She is 14 weeks old now and bright as a button, quite the little lady! This camera stuff...is sooo boring for a girl!! She started smiling then looked as if to say "Gran..is that not enough?", then just "So boring!". Those looks really amused me. I used the Childhood Garden QP as this set was made for Lilly originally. She is such a happy baby and such a giggler!! Her mum was making her laugh on Saturday and I had to stop her as Lilly was giggling so hard she was almost hysterical...it must be wonderful to be that happy most of the time!! Childhood is so brief, but so wonderful to watch.

Ok, enough of me!! Look at this gorgeous layout that Bettina sent me for this weeks "Gimme Five Challenge". I adore it! The journaling is so well done and the framing is very cleverly done. It draws your eye to the photo of this lovely young lady and her beautiful flowers. A fantastic job Bettina and thank you for sharing it!!

OK, you got to the end!! Its time for me to go shopping...food sort!! So if I dont want to go at midnight I had better run. See you Friday when you can snag the elements to go with todays papers. Have a safe time until then!!

I have three great layouts for last weeks Monday Challenge. People found this a really hard one so I am really glad to see you all used your imagination. Linda Lee sent me such a great one...I'm thinking of using it as a challenge in itself...a Name the Kits challenge!! Linda used lots of items from my stuff and came up with this wonderful concoction, a real medley of things!! Great imagination Linda, I spent ages looking through it to name all the kits!!! Clever idea!!

I love the way that Dory's used the template!! Again loads of imagination and great fun, what a fantastic result!! Brilliant!!

And finally what about this stunning heritage layout from Kim!! It goes so far back, she has lots of information but it's still clearly displayed. The photograph she's used is brilliant, what a wonderful thing to have. So many old photographs end up that they are not marked and future generations have no idea who they are..so great work Kim in preserving this one!! Love it!!

It's time to go...I need to grab a cuppa!! Don't forget Tuesday is chat night at Scrappin Digi Kreations, hope to see you there! If not I'll see you Wednesday.

I don't do snow!!..and I've been tagged..three times!!

Sorry folks I have been trying for the last two days to upload images to blogger...but no success till now!! I am grinding my teeth but have finally managed to get them to upload..only after 48 hours trying!! Anyone else have this problem? Most of the images I have left until tomorrows post as this problem has taken up so much time!! I will eventually catch up on myself!!

Here in the south of England we get cold weather but not a lot of snow..rain, yes we do rain..lots..but snow, not us!! Imagine it's April and last week I was photographing my garden awaking to Spring, beautiful flowers and my magnolia was blossoming...today they are poor cold little flowers!! It's snowing and we don't do snow..especially not in April!! I'm sure a lot of you

have loads of snow but for us this is unusual.

Guess what.....I have been tagged three times this week...so I had best got them done.
Tracy at LattedahDesigns tagged me on this one and also Robin of Robins World and this is how it goes:

Just copy paste THIS and everything below up until my Five links.
I thought it would be cool to have a meme where we post links.
We can post up to five.
Then we tell five more people to share their links.
If we all share who tagged us, our links are sure to be seen!
They can be business links, favorite sites, affiliate links, whatever you want…

There are Five Rules:
1. MUST be clean. No R rated sites.
2. Only FIVE links.
3. MUST tell 5 people.
4. A link back to the person who tagged you
5. Lara's Place is the meme originator.

So here are five of my favourite Links:
1. One of my favourites is Newspaper Clipping Generator, do your own newspaper cuttings for layouts
2. My favourite site for Photoshop stuff is the wonderful Al's Action Fx Resources
3. One of favourite heritage info general sites is Victorian Passage
4. An other favourite for free fonts for my layouts Bravenet
5. And of course for news, gossip, great layouts Digishoptalk
I was also tagged by Carol. Carol you didn't leave me a link to link back to you!!

The rules for this are:
1. put a link to the person who tagged you ( see above ) Can't do..sorry!
2 . mention the rules to each person you tag
3. mention 6 things about you
4. tag 6 other people and provide links to their blogs
5. leave comments on these peoples blogs to tell them they have been tagged :

So the 6 things about me are:
1. I am too thin!! I rival a stick insect!!
2. I love old books...my earliest one is a prayer book from 1668.
3. I hate shopping...except when it's for me!!
4. I love cooking, have loads of recipes and love getting new ones....hint, hint!!
5. I have Graves Disease, autoimune plus a few other things...old crock that I am!
6. I am a night person, I hate mornings.

So now you know six more things about me!!
The people I tag are:
1. Gabrielle at her blog http://glo-gabrielle.blogspot.com/
2. Jessica and Leaonna at Scrapaholics http://scrapoholicdesigns.blogspot.com/
Sorry I can't think of anyone else who hasn't been tagged on this one!! I check so many blogs and they have been done, so thats my three!
Gotta go I will be back tomorrow with a great freebie, if you like BB pages you'll love these!! There will be layouts and an other Monday challenge.

Doodle Ditsy

I've been awol again! Its been busy this week some weeks are just like that and this week I ahve not had a lot of energy after my bug at the weekend. But today I had to take time off and do some shopping, not my favourite thing to do but as I have gotten so thin, nothing seems to fit...so to the shops I went. It is amazing how many shops there are..at least in our town. I think I must have visited most of them today, lol! Finding the right size was a problem but I really didn't appreciate one shop assistance asking me I was looking for clothes for a child!! As if!! I really draw the line at gong to the childrens department!! But in the end I did find something....2 pairs of jeans. Yep,jeans! All that effort and all I have to show is jeans. I thought I would come back with a lovely skirt, some smart trousers a jacket and perhaps something cute in a shirt or top...nope..no chance. perhaps I should have gone into the childrens section after all!! Lol! Mind you as I am 5'7" it may have been challenging there too!
This evening's freebie is a little set of papers that I made using some of the doodles I have been working on. Its called Doodle Ditsy. I have been drawing lots of doodles this week, some flowers, some cute things, swirls and lots more. You will be seeing some of them soon.
Anyway I hope you like the Doodle Ditsy Papers.
I have only one layout for this weeks challenge so far. Lots of people have downloaded the bits but not many takers for the challenge. I thought I was sticking my kneck out a bit on this one! The one I have received is beautiful it comes from Lois and she has completed it with her gorgeous sheltie Laser's pedigree. Great blending and extraction on the photo Lois!! She has printed it out and she tells me it looks great. Thank you for sharing it with us it is brilliant!

Kim has been busy not only for the CT but on her blog. She did a fantastic layout awhile ago with beautiful bubbles. She is being really generous and sharing the bubbles with us all as a freebie on her blog. Unfortunately, Kim has had a rough time this week as her daughters home was destroyed by a fire, lucky no one was hurt. It is tragic when you loose all your things, yes insurance can replace somethings but other things money can't buy, like kids drawings and family items from grandma. So, leave Kim some love if you drop by for the Bubbles, I am sure she would appreciate it.

Drop and snag the Bubbles at Kims Blog
I have been tagged twice this week, once by Carol and once by Tracy..so my next post I will have to have my answers ready!! Well, that s all for tonight..take care and see you soon!!

Monday Challenge - Its a Strange one!!

Hi All! This I am feeling a good bit better, I can sit still and not keep rushing to the bathroom ...got to be an improvement!! Needless to say nothing much got done this weekend as I was otherwise engaged for most of it. I am going to try and post as much as I can this evening and catch up a bit, so bear with me!!
I do still have a challenge for you...for those of you who like a challenge!! You may or may not know that I am a Family History Researcher and as such I have a keen interest in family trees. That's what gave me the idea for this weeks challenge you don't need to treat it as a heritage heritage one though if you have different ideas then go for it!! I want to see those imaginations running riot!!
The deal: you get a choice of a png file (coloured) or a template (black and white) for you to choose which you want to work with. The idea is you can add what you want to them and make your layout based on one of these, either making a family tree layout or fill the frames with word art/ paper or photographs...the choice is yours!! A bit different from the usual but change is good for your imagination and so is a new challenge!! So lets see what you can do!! If I get no takers...well then I know I have pitched this one all wrong.

The rules are:

1. Make a layout using either the png file or the template, you can add any kit or elements you wish to complete the layout.
2. It need not be a heritage layout or family tree...it can be something totally different, the choice is yours. Lets see your imagination go!!
3. Send me a link or a copy of your layout by next Monday 7 April to june.schutrups@btinternet.com
4. Please include any credits for items used in your layout so that I can list them and give the designers full credit.

Here are the files for you to choose from.

Download the png file here

Download the template here

I am holding my breath to see what you come up with!! The posting bonus is a set of 2 Brag Book Templates similar to the ones below. Plus there is this set if you attend tomorrows chat!!
Collect all four!!

Tuesday is my Chat day at Scrappin Digi Kreations so if you like Brag Books Templates drop by and get this set as the Attendance Gift!! Its Tuesday at 3.30pm EST (8.30pm GMT). I hope to see you there!!

Last weeks Overlay Challenge has produced some real gems!! There are lots of layouts today as I did not get to post some on Friday but I just had to share them with you!!
Dorys has produced a stunner! Great use of the overlay and I love the frame! Add the journaling over the corner of the photo works well too..nice touch Dorys!! Your daughter looks so cute in the photo, look at those eyes!!

Credits: Overlay: censloft.blogspot.com , Frame: me (Dorys Gagné), Alpha: Bent alphas and Neutral zigzag stitches (www.storeide.se_gunhild) Hearts doodles : Jantina's doodles http://madebyjantina.blogspot.com/

The next one is simplicity itself but really effective!! Stacy has used this gorgeous photo and added the overlay. It enhances the photo without taking any attention away from the lovely picture. A stunning result!!

Connie tells me this is her first try with an overlay and what a fantastic result!! She has used it so well here. I love how you have brought the detail out on it Connie and that photo is beautiful...you certainly got the title correct too!! Great job!!

Leonna has used a similar technique to Stacy and again it has worked beautifully. I love the way she has made the overlay compliment the photo without overwhelming it. Brilliant Leaonna!!!

Spring leaps out of Kim's layout, with the beautiful daffodils and spring colours! I love the quote and arrow...great addition Kim! Again the overlay looks great and is a wonderful addition to a beautiful layout!
